About me

I grew up on the shores of Strangford Lough in Northern Ireland, where, having learned to play the guitar, I dreamed of becoming a famous rock star.

After graduating, I took off to Kenya, where, for ten years, I was a teacher. The first school I taught at was on the edge of the Great Rift Valley - Stunning! - afterwhich, I took up a position in an international school in Nairobi. During this time, I even represented my adopted country at rugby! Escaping the classroom, I fell into managing major events, as well as buying and selling their rights. More enjoyably, however, I continued my passion for music, playing, ever enthusiastically, in several gloriously unsuccessful bands.

In 2008, I emigrated to Adelaide with my wife, Victoria, and kids, Joal and Eve. I've run a yacht club, a golf club and an event management agency. In 2022, I was made redundant from a company that made hair foils (the things you do!), and that felt like a good time to reassess what was important in life…

…like writing a book. So, I now combine writing with supporting people with disabilities. Of course, despite establishing a band called Them Creepy Crawlies, musical fame and fortune remain elusive! Of course, there's still time…
